Approach & Process
My work unfolds within a visual and narrative inquiry where painting does not function as decoration, but as an active form.
Each piece arises from a real tension and gradually organizes itself until it holds.
The approach is structured around a central principle:
to transform diffuse tensions into inhabitable forms, capable of sustaining the gaze over time.

A painting that endures over time
I conceive my work to be experienced across multiple levels of reading.
• visual
• symbolic
• psychological
What is seen is only part of what is at work. The image continues to operate after the encounter. The stability often perceived in the works is an active condition of clarity and decision.
Creation Process
My work unfolds through successive layers.
Each stage carries a precise function.
Intuition & Structure
It begins with the initial graphite gesture, already charged with a clear tension.
I allow what insists to emerge, before any idea of resolution.
The digital phase then establishes direction.
It channels the energy, refines the composition, and adjusts the balances.
The tension is guided and held within movement.

Decision
When the work calls for material presence, I enter into paint.
The body, extended time, and the resistance of the surface anchor the form.
The gesture becomes commitment.
The movement settles into place.

Forms and Formats
A single tension can exist in several forms:
• sketch
• digital work
• painted work
These forms do not compete with one another. They offer different points of entry into the work.
Each piece holds a clearly defined and assumed position that determines its role, its circulation, and its value.
Series as Structures of Thought

The series are structured around precise anchor points.
The theme is not represented. It is moved through as a dynamic.
Each work makes visible a state held in tension.
Stance
Mélisss’ work does not seek to persuade.
It stands.
The value of a piece does not rest on effect, nor on immediate recognition.
It is built through the coherence of the process, the steadiness of the gaze, and the work’s ability to accompany over time.
Some choose to follow the work across years.
To acquire several pieces.
To reserve others yet to come.
This relationship of trust is an integral part of the approach.

In Open Tension
Mélisss’ approach unfolds within an ongoing inquiry.
The work evolves through adjustments, without rupture.
Each piece extends a living trajectory.
It holds a form.
It makes visible what acts in silence.
