Chambre Close

To find my breath again.
To guard my flame.
To be, without demand.

They had colonized me.
My time, my clarity, my strength.
Everything served elsewhere.
So I closed the door.
I pulled away all that clung,
until only my own voice remained.
In that silence, I felt the real return —
the calm, the precision.
What filters, what sorts, what holds.
Me.
Face to face.
With what I am, with what I allowed,
and with what I will no longer let through.
Everything returns to the source.
That return is my gift.

Description of the Work
Chambre Close preserves the intimacy of an inner space, yet it does not linger in retreat.
The dark tones and confident acrylic strokes convey a regained grounding.
The figure is no longer confined; she holds her space, steady, ready to cross the threshold.
This painting marks a passage toward a more rooted state, where the closed room becomes a source of strength.

Artist’s Note
When I painted this piece, I was no longer in flight or in need of hiding.
I was already elsewhere, stronger, steadier, ready to turn the page.
Chambre Close was a transition for me, the site of a final pause before fully embracing the movement toward something new.
It isn’t a closure. It’s a passage.
